Son and Father
"In the end we are lonely, and naked, somewhere bleak. Empty of thoughts and full of blurry expectations. The only thing that truly saves us is love" as he finished reading, the man closed the book and nestled his son into bed.
- End of story. Now I think it's time for you to get some sleep.
- What does it mean? what did Shakespeare want to say?
- It's no worry for a ten-year-old boy like you. But I think he is talking about something that is common to all of us: beings victims from our existence, we cannot escape from our own nature.
- So dad, am I going to die lonely? - the boy leaned his head on his right hand curiously.
- I can't predict the future. But I know deep into you there are good intentions.
- What does it have to do with dying lonely?
- It has all to do with dying lonely... - he arranged the boy's pillow. - people are made of ideas. Let's say your head is a big colorful profitable farm. Well.. if you sow nice thoughts, filled up with caring and hope and they grown strong with you, then you would produce good acts... even becoming a part of yourself. Then, whenever you made a decision, it'd make you ponderate if that would be the finest move, accordingly to your nature.
- So, are there good people and bad people? Do the bad ones die alone? What about the good people, do they have to die?
- There are people, and everyone dies. Our body grows old, it's part of life. The difference is not how it end; it comes when we make decision; when we stand for a cause; when we fend for what is right instead of corrupting ourselves; and respect the different forms of thinkings, eventhough we cannot fully understand them.
- So, loving and being good is a politic act?
- Attitudes are politics. Humans, based on their social conditions, are politic beings. In order to live in harmony and happy they need to comprehend their brother and sister.
- So if I sow good thoughts and produce proactive attitudes, I won't bother how I'm going to die?
- Will it matter in the end at all?
- I don't know..
- One step at a time.
